Program Description:

The 420 is one of the most popular double handed dinghies for junior sailing.  With one of the largest fleets on Lake Ontario, this boat provides a challenge to advanced sailors, yet is simple enough for beginners to learn the basics. The CANSail 1 program will introduce participants to the fundamental sailing and safety knowledge that is the foundation of the CANSail Learn to Sail framework.

This course is offered in four two-week sessions. Upon successful completion of the skills checklist, sailors will be awarded a certificate of achievement.

One week sessions are available upon request. Recommended minimum to attain CANSail certification is two weeks.

Pre-requisites:

Wetfeet is recommended but not required

Learning Outcomes CANSail 1:
Sailors will learn:
  • Parts of a boat – rigging and de-rigging
  • Overall safety – measures on water and pre sailing preparation
  • Proper launching and docking procedure
  • Introduction to tacking and gybing

PRICING FOR 4-DAY SESSIONS WILL BE PRO-RATED AT 80% OF THE STANDARD WEEKLY RATE
